I read it somewhere once that to err is human. If so, then I have been feeling all too human lately. One example only: last night I think I told the grocer that “I am not the words for foods in Italian.” while true, this was not what I meant to say. It’s not so much that things are so difficult here, because frankly, there isn’t anything that I have to do here that I’m not capable of. It’s more that I am tired of having to make between 5 and 10,000 errors on my way to doing anything. Unfortunately for me, being a straniero is a permanent condition.
