Pushing buttons I didn't know I had

after my last grad-student related rant i decided to try and make an effort to let some of his stupidity go. sitting in Latin waiting for the top of my head to blow off is, while sort of funny, not particularly fun. but i can't. i just can't do it. every time i think that i can just let it go, he opens his damned mouth and says in a contrivedly intellectual tone something so obviously stupid that it just makes my guts twist. believe me when i say that if you are over the age of 25 and refer to things that were written in the 1250's A.D. as from "the twelfth century" i cannot respect you and frankly, i probably cannot like you. is it really too much to expect to ask this guy to understand things like 1525 = 16th century and 1789 = 18th century? biting my tongue is becoming increasingly difficult and frankly, i'm starting to worry about this a little bit. will my unreasoning dislike of this neanderthal of a Grad Student eventually be my undoing? will he find a way to exploit my fatal flaw to somehow ruin me? sure, he's probably only marginally smarter than his own shoelaces, but i'm beginning to see, disturbingly, visions of A Shot in the Dark with Mike the Grad Student as Clouseau to my Inspector Dreyfus...
